We are coming up on our next module – Individuality.
Put a lot of stock into training principles on pH. As you will find there is a lot of uncertainty with training. So if we can leverage what is true, we can increase our odds of improving our athletes more consistently.

If I have someone who shuts down at just a hint of any sort of correction, it makes it challenging to cue. So, I might have to get creative with how I approach correcting and cueing. Something as simple as misreading if someone is having a bad day could set a session up negatively. I think everyone here would agree that building relationships is a huge part of what we do. Understanding the differences in motivations and drives of those we work with goes a long way in building buy-in and hopefully add another way we can increase consistency and improvement more consistently.
November 9, 2022 at 7:48 pm #13791timcaronModeratorIts a good point. I created on the podcast that uncertainty is a fixed entity. In that we should approach unpredictable as predictable, with even that statement is not complete. The infinite number of possibilities we incur with the intersection of training and a person’s life is impossible to predict. Having some sort of perspective in that everyone has their own set up things they are bringing with them regardless of their overall disposition is important to appreciate is going to happen.
This is a big reason behind tracking subjective wellness or biomarkers such as RHR, HRV, or BP to give predictive models of how someone may respond to training. It is really interesting to ask positive people their mood on a 1-5 scale daily – they will always say 5. I have come to realize admitting of having a bad day is a failure of sorts. They are comfortable saying 1 on sleep quality, soreness, fatigue, and stress, but mood is fixed as a 5 every time. Having diagnostic tools to interpret how someone may react to a cue or correction is admitting as a coach you have no idea of who this person is one day to the next but willing to be adaptable to the situation.
Great insight, thank you for posting Corey
